We have a sundial in the garden, on a heavy (though hollow) concrete pedestal, and I do NOT reset it for daylight savings time. It makes sense to me to have it always on “sun time,” and this cartoon shows one great reason for doing things that way.
DST only exists since WWI. It was not suppose to be permanent, only for the duration of the war.
I am lucky enough to be self-employed, so a few years ago I gave up and do not switch to DST. I wake an hour late and go to bed an hour late. If I have to be somewhere at a certain time I am.
I understand that the number of car accidents is highest the day after the switch to DST when everyone goes back to work in their sleep.
Then again time zones only exist since the late 1800’s. Before that time was more natural and each village, town, city set the town clock to the sun at noon. If one is on the ends of the time zone one’s time is off by a half hour!

Hubby asked me, “Spring back, right?” and I thought he was joking – until every clock in the house turned up two hours off.

Yep. A movable gnomon should do the trick. Just gotta go in the right direction in each hemisphere.
