So true. I did not walk until I adopted Brutus. Now we go out everyday no matter how cold it gets.I haven’t lost weight but I no longer have pain in my legs and hips. And thanks to Bru I have met people I had never spoken to in the many years I have lived in the neighborhood.
One of the cardiologists with whom I worked would write the address of whichever SPCA was closest to his patient’s home. “Go get a dog. You’ll save his life and he will save yours.”
All well and good but I wish she had said “adopted” rather than bought. Small detail but those of us that work to save dogs that are stuck at the dog catchers and not likely to have a good end feel is very important. Adopt, don’t shop.
My 2 6 month olds are aging me fast. I had neighbors over last night, and the pups ruined the evening. Is it a blue heeler kind of thing? Never had the breed before, and they’re very difficult. I know their other half (Aust. Shepherd) aren’t so rambunctious.
This is so true! I only wish it had said “I adopted a dog.” Can’t imagine why anyone would buy a dog or cat when there are so many shelter pets that need loving homes.

I see many people in my area out walking their dog(s). Too bad my parrot isn’t interested in going for walks.

Seems like she’s taking the path of leashed resistance.

Gym membership= “Ugh I really ought to go, but I don’t feel like it.” Dog = “Come on boy let’s go.”

A dog exercises your heart in more ways than one— literally and figuratively. Both make your life longer and more worth living those extra years.

I’m finding out fast. Going out in the cold a 7AM and 10PM is not my idea of a good time but he is so worth it!

If your dog is fat, you’re not getting enough exercise.

“Fit” is an odd name for a dog.
