A fakakta is a thing, object or person that is completely messed up.It is not working as it should be, or maybe it should not have been working from the start.
This Yiddish term is the perfect slang for anything that is negative. Your house is falling apart? It’s “fakakta”. Your kid likes eating worms? He’s “fakakta”. You just lost your job, your partner left you and you got kicked out of your house? Well, your life is “fakakta”.
“Fakakta” is one of the most used cuss terms in the Yiddish language.
Comic strip geeks should check out the Derby Dugan Trilogy, by Tom de Haven. It follows the evolution of a single comic strip character from the 1890’s to the 1970’s. “Funny Papers” deals with the initial creation and popularity around the time of the Yellow Kid. He’s a young boy a tall yellow hat, a talking dog named Fuzzy, and a magic wallet that always has a $10 bill in it. By “Derby Dugan’s Depression Funnies,” he’s been transformed into the hero of a serialized strip like Little Orphan Annie (still with the talking dog and magic wallet), and in “Dugan Under Ground” he’s resurrected/pirated into an Underground Comix feature. I found them really enjoyable. (Note: The novels concern Derby Dugan’s creators and the changes in comics industry over the eras, although examples of the “Derby Dugan” comic strip are occasionally provided.)

Looking forward to this movie! I heard there’s a scene with Mr. Chilly … it’s a shame we so rarely see him these days, he’s so underrated.

Don’t be silly. Doug would have to be played by Chris Hemsworth, Duane Johnson or Hugh Jackman.

What a depressing life. Still better than Poochie: The Rockin’ Dog.

Is Doug cooking meth in panel #8? The test tube, the blow torch, the sleazy hotel room… Is this an episode of “Breaking Mediocre”?

The original title of the movie was “Star Wars: The Quest For More Money”.
