Does the creator’s name sound like the start of the cliffhanger voiceover at the end of an old serial? “Will Henry save the princess?” “Will Henry escape from Bigfoot’s lair?” “Will Henry discover what’s behind the mysterious disappearances? Tune in tomorrow for the next exciting chapter!”
Wallace the modern day Confucius. In the end, we all go out naked just as we entered. The only thing that we will take with us IS our friendships and our relationships….
I think it is a nice touch that Will shows us that Wallace is self – aware of his nature and that he has made it as a choice. Perhaps he will rub off on Amelia. :-)
Thank you, Wallace, for pretty much countering completely the whole “nice guys finish last” troupe. And indeed, you’re a nice guy—don’t ever stop being one. :)
Our playground equipment was set in pillows of asphalt that stood 8 or 10 inches out of the ground. I always figured they must have been even with the ground once. Yea, it hurt to trip over them. We learned to be careful about that.
Slightly off-topic: Can anyone direct me to the date of the strip when Amelia was on the roof getting ready to chuck her pumpkin? I’m looking for the day that she gazed out at the panorama of Snug Harbor just before she tossed it.

A differing of opinion as to which is more important. Besides, if you don’t intend to finish, it opens up so many more possibilities.

Notice how the school playground has equipment deemed dangerous now?

We finish last, perhaps, but by thunder, we finish.

I wonder what prompted Amelia’s question to Wallace? He’s a nice guy, but why ask that?

I have read that the original quote (Leo Durocher?) was more like “Nice guys can also finish last”. A whole different meaning.

What are those figures in Panel 3? One’s hanging on some kind of line and the other appears to be inside a tire.
