It doesn’t seem like an incantation gone wrong. More like a mistake in the recipe. Unless he said something as he was pouring it in, but then what would paprika have to do with it?

I’m thinking the Devil is either Ned Flanders or Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor’s neighbor Mr Wilson.

I thought it opened a portal to hades, not beezlebub.
