My older brother was a fan from the beginning. He never actually became a Trekkie OR a Trekker, but he was on board when the show was still under the Damoclean sword of cancellation because few others were watching. But he is also a major fan of Star Wars, including the prequels. Obviously, he doesn’t get into choose-upsiding. He just enjoys.
It doesn’t matter because once the liquor kicks in there will be a showdown and then it will be Vulcan pinch vs. mind control. This is not going to turn out well.
As an avowed member of the Transformers fandom?[]I can testify from personal experience that there are some groups – and even subgroups within larger groups – that just don’t play well together. []Blunt force trauma and psychological warfare may or may not be involved.
My wife and I had a nice, normal Catholic wedding. But our china pattern was the Enterprise set from Pfaltzgraff. Unfortunately, they were all out of actual china sets by the time we got married. So we cleaned out their stoneware sets. But we do have one china set each from Excelsior and from DS9.

but… I’m a Trekkie… it’s what we used to be called decades ago, and “trekker” was an insult. I don’t understand the change. maybe it was regional.

Roberta Barlow, back in the mid 70s I referred to a co-worker as a trekkie and he firmly corrected me, telling me it was “trekker.”

living in different parts of the country (within the same decade) – I’ve heard both “trekkie” and “trekker” used, so I think it is regional ….
