Someone answer me this: why is American football even called football? The ball gets kicked once in a while- but it spends most of the time in the players’ hands, or under their arms. Is it not true that in soccer, the game the rest of the world calls football, the foot is much more important to the game, and the players don’t use their hands? -———————————————————-While we’re at it, why does the word soccer break the so-called ‘rule’ that ‘c’ is pronounced like an ‘s’ before the vowel ‘e’? Why is the word pronounced [SOCK-er] and not [SOCKS er]?
