@CV – not quite sure what that means. In our area, we have more than a few small high schools that can’t play American football because it’s too expensive. Soccer works fine for them.
Someone answer me this: why is American football even called football? The ball gets kicked once in a while- but it spends most of the time in the players’ hands, or under their arms. Is it not true that in soccer, the game the rest of the world calls football, the foot is much more important to the game, and the players don’t use their hands? -———————————————————-While we’re at it, why does the word soccer break the so-called ‘rule’ that ‘c’ is pronounced like an ‘s’ before the vowel ‘e’? Why is the word pronounced [SOCK-er] and not [SOCKS er]?
I do remember kickball in elementary school- loosely structured on baseball, but with a big red ball we kicked around the diamond. I guess the adults were afraid kids would get hurt by the bat. -——————————————————————————Then, after we were deemed old enough for softball, I actually did get hit by a bat. Some dimwit was swinging it offsides, without looking, and smacked me in the side of the head- hard. And that explains how I became a cartoonist.
I’m glad my boyfriend agreed that Brazil’s reaction to losing was absurd. (That an entire country should put their national pride on a silly game). So Germany won and I don’t give a flying . . . !
Yes, Thomas; I noticed that when I lost enough weight to be as thin as looks good dressed in my size, I changed on top from a 36D to a 34C (but I’m OK with that – and my new BF seems to be OK too).
