Back in the early 1990s I got a layoff notice by fax. And the boss was only in the next building. He called me and told me to go stand by the fax machine for an incoming message. Yep, he was a real piece of work. Or some other four-letter word.
last time I got laid off over Zoom , they didn’t even have the decency to turn their camera on. It was only the 5th time my boss had spoken with me in the 1.5 years I was there
The only way my alt-right nephew keeps his job is because his boss is too wimpy to discipline or fire any of his subordinates – nephew loves to inflict pain on people so his boss has him do it.

In a world of technology, face to face is a rarity at all levels. It’s much easier to send a good bye letter over email.
