When I thought for a moment it was supposed to be a menorah, I was shocked and appalled; I can’t imagine why it seems funny to triathlete1066. Nor am I sure what the point of the candelabra is – that Liberace with his questionable taste was an unwitting pawn of dark powers? But that seems obscure, dated, and cruel. That the candelabra is supposed to be a substitute for the silmarils or the Two Trees? Even more remotely recondite. I give up!
A menorah got seven arms (Exodus 25, 31-39). This one has five. I think the author just thought about something useful for Sauron and I don‘t believe this is meant antisemitic. But its only a guess and there might be people who likes to find something antisemitic in everything.

Does his mummy still have the wobbly ashtray he forged for her in primary school?

The menorah is genius. I can’t think of anything else that would even make this funny, but the menorah is hilarious.

As I stated in a comment, I am pretty sure that’s just a candelabra. A menorah has 9 candle holders

I think the humor is about starting with simple work. The choice of item to show, however is treading into dangerous territory, as Jefano notes.
