    I found a zyzzyva crawling around a palm, so I squished it.

    I looked in my Amer. Herit. Dict. of the Eng. Lang. 4th Ed. and there it was:

    zyzzyva – n.

    Any of various tropical American weevils of the genus Zyzzyva, often destructive to plants.
