I’d like to know HOW those collars work for real. Does some pressure sensor feel the vibrations of the dog’s vocal cords?

However they work, they are very painful to a dog. Also, why would they put one on Cagney. Wouldn’t that case a problem with is pacemaker?

I saw a humorous experiment of one on a human being at The Wally Show and I wouldn’t use one. There has to be better training methods out there. (I realize this was just a joke in a cartoon, but it immediately made me remember this clip.)

And the same for those invisible fences! Just buy a leash and walk the dog.

I had one for my dog. I think I put it on him once, after that I only had to carry it. The device was sound-activated through a tiny microphone, “bark” into it and it would make an irritating noise. It also had a shock setting, and I can tell you it didn’t feel good. So, when I took him for a walk I would carry it, if he started barking I would bark into the device and it would buzz, and he’d stop barking and look up at me. He even “asked permission” after that to howl when an ambulance passed.

    Aversion Therapy

What we have here is a form of behavior modification called “aversion therapy”. A noxious stimulus is applied to modify or abolish unwanted behavior.

Might this application, minus the electric zap, be used for other purposes like schoolyard bullying?

BTW I like the sarcasm font. Hope installation in my computer is possible.
