Not sure Zack is misunderstood, but he doesn’t really understand. I’m torn. On cursive. I never found it all that useful as a kid and quit using it the moment I wasn’t forced to use it. On the other hand, I’ve had to read very old documents on occasion (deeds, minutes of meetings, bills of sale), and it helps tremendously to be able to decipher it. Recently, 40 years after stopping, I started using cursive again just to see if I could. Now I kind of like it.

Cursive was valuable when lifting the pen could leave a blot of liquid ink behind.

Cursive writing is the curse of the left-handed. I push my hand through what I’ve just written and smear it. Even with ball points and gels.
