Meh… It’s the media that make it seem like we’re more violent. Homicide alone has declined drastically since the Middle Ages. While it’s hard to get an exact number, historical data suggests that the odds of dying at the hand of another person are at most 10% what they were 500 years ago, and possibly as low as 2%. All other forms of violence have decreased as well, though they still manifest extremes in certain pockets – yet they get broadcast with a grossly disproportionate amount of time and attention.

I’d be surprised if my flight attendant sister-in-law learned the martial arts. Oh, the stories my brother will tell.

Discrimination! Why not the female flight attendants as well? (After all, they were the ones slaughtered on 9/11.)

Well, if the airlines would give people more comfortable seats they wouldn’t get so viloent.
