Not a problem for me—I have partial Face Blindness (look it up). I have trouble recognizing people I see on a daily basis if they’re out of context, like meeting co-workers in the supermarket. It’s an embarrassing annoyance, but I’ve learned to live with it … more or less.
I had a roommate who gained a reputation for being aloof because she didn’t say hello to people who passed her on the street. Her problem was simply myopia. She was in a situation where she was too vain to wear glasses and too broke to buy contact lenses. Once she got contact lenses she was the most social person you could imagine.
