Zen Pencils by Gavin Aung Than for October 04, 2013
Transcript:
Sometimes life is hard. Things go wrong. In life and in love and in business and in friendship and in health and in all the other ways that life can go wrong. And when things get tough...this is what you should do: Make good art. Husband runs off with a politician... Make good art. Leg crushed and then eaten by a muted boa constructor... make good art. IRS on your trail... make good art. Cat exploded...make good art. Someone on the internet thinks what you;re doing is stupid...make good art. Do what you can do best...Make good art. -Neil Gaiman

If your husband runs off with a politician… they’re getting exactly what they deserve. Probably both of them.

Illustrating — no pun intended — that while pain comes from our circumstances, drama (or lack of) comes from our reaction to our circumstances.

If anyone is interested (and hasn’t seen “Neverwhere” on TV), read Neil’s novelization of Neverwhere. He is also the man who gave us “Coraline”, BTW.

Life is dark. Make good art to shed light into the darkness and prevent it from spreading into your psyche (soul).
