Too many channels with news readers yelling at each other repeating the same ‘news’ 24 hours a day. Gratuitous sex and violence on programs at all hours. I have found the Off switch and it is delightfully quiet and peaceful.
Try the radio. If you don’t have a progressive talk station, you could go online to wcpt.com which is AM820 here in Chicagoland. Or you could try one of the Pacifica stations online. Then there is kgnu.org in Denver or ciut.fm in Toronto.
You could listen to NPR but they are too far to the “right.”
Actually, I have spent quite a bit of time fact checking ( I’m retired and it seemed like a cool project)—- MSNBC tells the truth, but it’s a selected truth designed to promote their message and downplay anything that doesn’t. CNN tells the truth, unselected, and pretty trustworthy, but you have to watch more than one show to see everything going on. Faux is Faux. They flat out lie on a regular basis, and if Trump’s plans work out they are going to be replaced by the Trump network which doesn’t think that they are doing so sufficiently.

Try the lower end of the FM radio band-usually you can find a good classical music station that will have very little spoken words and no commercials.
