Nick is a genius. There’s a reason normal babies’ first word is either da da or ma ma — they’re easy to form, but GUM BO takes a lot of mouth – tongue coordination.

Nick and Gumbo spend a lot of time in the obscurity section of the house…

(points at the TV…) “Gumbo”….. (points at the door…) “Gumbo”….. (points at the smart phone…) “Gumbo”…..

This is such a unique story arc. I’m loving it!

Wanna bet Adam will be upset that Baby Nick’s first word isn’t “da-da”??

With Adam as his father, you’d have thunk his first word would be “coffee”

Woo Hoo!. I don’t care if it was an accident. It counts. Sippy cups and raisins for everyone. “Ceelebrate the night. COME ON!”

The Gumbo Variations

Well, I should hope so. Nick is like what, 26?

“If I’d known you’d make such a big deal out of it, I would have stuck with ‘goo’.”

Once it starts it will never stop….

Nick is about 20 years old. About time he started talking. Maybe someday he can wear real clothes instead of one-piece pajamas.

Aw little Nick…he knows who’s the best friend and ally he’s had over all those years stuck in the basement. The others are just random entertainment.

Gumbo’s like, “What?!? Why are you yelling, brudder?”

My grandson’s first word was “fire truck.” They lived across the street from a fire station.

And on National Gumbo Day too!

“PupPY!” was my grandson’s first. That dog is his dog and he is her little boy for sure.

I’m glad to see Nick and Gumbo again!

THEY HAVE A THIRD CHILD?!?!

Old joke – I forget the exact words – The child does not speak and does not speak. One day he when he is 4 years old (maybe even older) he says (something like) “the soup is too hot”. Parents are shocked – “you can talk – why have you never had said anything before?” Child says “Up until now, the food has been okay and has not been too hot.”

(If anyone remembers the exact joke – this was the best I could remember it.)
