And they only want to change the title a little bit, because, as we all know, any movie will be a huge moneymaker if you just add “: Redemption” to the end of it…
The words “based on” is usually nothing more than a lure for a fan base to a movie that is rarely anything like the book, but often good enough to get on with.
Want a prime example of Hollywood trashing an excellent book?Read “The Power of One”, then watch the movie. Rather than popcorn, just keep a barf bag handy.
Hence why I DO NOT watch any film/TV versions of books I like – especially those of Louisa May Alcott – none have been close enough to make them bearable – saves being miserable about them.
On the other hand husband is a MAJOR James Bond fan – reading them when he was young is what caught him onto the reading bug. He will anticipate every new Bond movie which comes out and then is miserable after seeing them as they have little to do with the book. (Did you know that the book “Dr. No” is about bat guano?)

If they’re going to make a movie from your book…1) take the money and run2) expect no congruence with your book3) be happy if they keep the title

Tell you what. We’ll keep the title, and just change everything else. (Like they did to Tom Clancy.)
