People who talk on cellphones in public places seem to believe that everyone should be privy to the most intimate … and UN-interesting… details of their personal lives. The reality is, we want to SCREAM “STFU, you inconsiderate jerk! If you must conduct your conversation at this particular time, take it outside and OUT of earshot!” It is especially aggravating in gyms where people go to do a workout in a preferably pleasant setting. Since it is generally a relatively quiet place, those conversations are quite conspicuous and impossible to ignore without the aid of earplugs or some other device for suppressing them. Yeah…. they’re ought to be a law.
Before the pandemic husband used to have us eat lunch daily at a local Wendys. There were other regulars (not all of them daily of course) and all would wave or nod at each other.
When husband insisted we go back for lunch we started going around 2 or 3 pm so there would be fewer people there. Each time we saw someone who used to be a regular we would all wave and nod at each other. None of us know anything about the others (okay, one of them probably worked for ABC sports as he has staff jacket for the Olympics on same). One day I saw a man and his son and the man and even with masks on (this area many to most people are still wearing masks including almost all store employees in places we have been) the man looked familiar. I mentioned this to my husband and he looked – the son has aged a lot during the pandemic and normally they would be would with the mother/wife – who then walked out of the ladies room and we all waved at each other.

We have a similar situation -

He may be “awful” but he keeps the coffee shop going. I don’t see Andre singing your praises …
