Myers-Briggs is slightly less authoritative than astrology as a guide to personality IMO.

Cross my palm with silver, for a more accurate and more flattering assessment.

Thought I would do the test too after reading todays comic. Got INFJ-T. Same as Amanda but “Turbulent” as well apparently.

Now I have to take it to see how ridiculously messed up (or not) I am. No time now, will report back soon…also will do the “Friends” one for comparison. Can’t wait for the results! Who knows? I might be the next President of the Book Club or something with as much prestige.

I had to take the Myers-Briggs during the orientation class for my job. Interesting, but soon forgotten.

If we’re to go by Panel 3, wouldn’t the abbreviation be “IIFJ”?

But you like to stare… er, observe. You know, for inspiration. But without gawking. (It’s a fine line.)

Lots of fun — try a five factor personality test. I would say you are Open to experience, Conscientious (in some things), not very Extraverted, sort of Agreeable, and high in Neuroticism (emotional instability). Acronym OCEAN.

INTJ. But as Some Fool From R’leyh would say, that is almost as accurate as Pisces, Pisces rising, Virgo moon.

I’m a INFJ too! My husband is INTJ. As he said, it’s interesting that you do feel complimented when you read the longer description of your type (available in the book we read long ago, Please Understand Me). My counselor had recommended the book, and I know a lot of fellow Mensans liked it. It certainly gave me an early understanding that being introverted isn’t about whether you like people – it’s where or how you get or lose your energy. Introverts charge up by being alone.

I’ve studied MBTI for years. Most of the books in my collection are about MBTI. One of the things about it that I find somewhat disappointing about it is that, rather than being static, it’s dynamic—it can and often does, change over time. When I first took the MBTI, I tested as being an INFP. In subsequent tests, I’ve gotten INFJ and INTP as results.

Another factor of MBTI is the order of functions. We all have dominant, secondary, tertiary, and least functions. To use Amanda’s INFJ type as an example, INFJs’ function stack would be as follows: Introverted Intuition, Extraverted Feeling, Introverted Thinking, and Extraverted Sensing. The various types have those functions on various orders and whether the functions are introverted or extraverted influences how you use them.

I didn’t mean for this to turn into a psychology lecture so I’ll just conclude with a couple of points. Most of the information you’d want to know about MBTI is available through either a Google or YouTube search. Finally, the more I study MBTI, the less I realize I know about it.
