Andy doesn’t need to practice manners or take compliments;that’s why He cut Poindexder off; modesty. But even He knows when to call a good thing quits.
Gweedo Murray said, about 20 hours agoDAMN GOOD !!!The latest Encarta episode I watched had bad sound and video, but that should be expected since it was what looked like their first effort. The story really grabbed me though. .As the group goes… it could have only been better if I went with a ‘special somebody’. I believe they were at their best I have seen, so far, since I started going last year. They did the song “Norwegian Wood” with the Dobro subbing for the sitar part. In their “Whipping Post” cover; in the middle where it jams, Barb and Paul brought their (acoustic) guitars down low so that the Dobro would stand out. They did some other stuff I hadn’t heard before including the song, “Hippy Buckaroo”, that (Dobro) Bob had wrote and a cover of an old Dusty Drapes And The Drapers tune, for those who are familiar with that name. I don’t how far and wide the Drapers were known, but they played fairly regular at the long since defunct Olympic Dance Hall and Saloon here in Boulder.
That sounds awesome. Glad you had a great time.
I’ve never heard of ‘Dusty Drapes’ have you saw them live before?
I saw your other comment late yesterday too. I hope you manage to get everything done. Did you have to go to the store or did Joe turn up?
I don’t really have much to say at the moment as I wasn’t feeling very ‘tip top’ last night but I don’t think anybody noticed.
But I’m feeling OK now…. I think. Hopefully I’ll have more to say either later on or tomorrow.

Sounds like a fine idea for an ancillary strip.Rather like Mad Capps [stump] exists beside but not in Andy’s sphere of influence.Let’s give that Comic to Phil n. d. Blanc somebody besides the 3-headed Dog, but keep AC as-is. Just dump the Dog.
Here’s a Classic from 1957, # AC 0024 in the archive.I call these early Strips “The Famous 50” because Smythe’s seminal efforts truly defined the Scamp which would become our Andy for 55+ years now. zoom Perhaps a different Percy, not the Rent-Collector? hard to tell without knowing the Man better.
Today’s strip was a rerun, I think. Very very weak, indeed, as several of the Cappers have commented. (Nice re-do, Mikeyj! I have to admit that I’ve never read any TinTin but I liked your drawing. If you’re taking requests, how about Andy as drawn by Jack Kirby?)@Susan NewmanInteresting ideas, but why not have Flo and Rubie take off to London TOGETHER? (As for Andy ever becoming active in the church, I don’t think he’d ever be “active” in anything but the communion wine………)
Let me tell you something… If I was in the ‘GoComics Trenches’ then I would bring the Edit feature back for all of you and also the ‘Like’ button though I wasn’t around when that feature was available.
YOUR ‘Like’ button would have to keep getting fixed as so many people would be clicking it! I hope you’re having a great day and I’m glad that you, Ed and Roy got to see the Drapers.
Thank you. By the way, I think your version of today’s strip is way funnier than Mahoney, Goldsmith and Garnett’s version.^^YW…. at first it wasn’t very good, then the idea of giving Andy Tintin’s old-fashioned britches made the drawing work
Sorry about the shrinkage, but I managed to read the lines. Wont that kid need a medic, I mean darts through your noggin ? That’s gotta hurt not to mention the penetration into the “gray”.. Not familiar with Herge, but I like how even the poddle’s ear tips are poofed in the ubiquitous style.I know I typed “poddle”, but left it since it smacks of Brit flavor.^^I wouldn’t worry about the glasses guy, cartoon characters are amazingly resilient ;)^Actually, the ears are meant to look like Flo’s hair; in the comic Tintin’s dog is called Snowy* , thus Flo-wy^In the original Belgian version, the dog is Milou (me-loo)
So sorry to hear of Richard Briers passing! WE LOVED “GOOD NEIGHBORS” (that’s what they called it here in the US, but I think the “Good Life” was better suited.) What a great ensemble! Did some research, quite a bit actually. Brought back some GRAND memories of some GREAT programs! Discovered Felicity Kendall, admitted herself, how difficult she could be and how she wasn’t really like Barbara Good quite so much. I loved her on that show. I loved them all. And then I discovered Paul Eddington had passed in 1995. He was magnificent as the Minister in both series! Glad Penelope is still around! Talk about GREAT PROGRAMS! For the most part, you can’t beat the British for comedies or mysteries! They sure surpass some of the garbage Hollywood comes up with!
Anyone remember ‘Allo ’Allo’, or Chef, or Last of the Summer Wine, or Cracker, Open All Hours, Night Detective, or One Foot in the Grave? and of course As Time Goes By?
Just to name a few! GEEZ, I LOVED THOSE SHOWS! Our PBS station doens’t carry them anymore.
And then, of course, there was the GREAT Canadian Steve Smith and his The Red Green Show? KEEP YOUR STICK ON THE ICE!
RE: the guy with the forest of darts in his head. Whe I was 6 or 7, I was at a friends house. His family had a nice game room with darts. I do not remember exactly how, but I managed to get a dart stuck in the middle of my forehead. It didn’t hurt but my friend was freaking. We went downstairs to his mother. She feinted. My friend and I cracked up laughing. I wouldn’t worry about darts piercing the skull, even one less dense than my own.

Doubling out on a 20 is bad strategy. One usually goes for Double 16 so that, if you single, you still have Double 8 etc.
That said, it was specs’ last dart, so clearly he was willing to risk it, which means Andy was likely close to doubling off on his next turn.
