True childhood memory , Being taken to Midnight Mass by my Father, he sung in the Choir ( in French ) , The following year they moved the Choir to the front of the Church, for Dad that was the and of the Choir for Him !
my devout Catholic wife stopped enticing me to go to mass years ago. it took her a while to respect my non belief in anything mythical. Took her a decade.
Not midnight. But on Christmas eve we would gather at the Methodist church community hall where the kids put on the nativity scene. I did it only once and had to play the rear end of a donkey. This was followed by cookies and eggnog or punch. Then we congregated in the chapel and sang all the old Christmas carols (which, alas, aren’t played much anymore.) Good memories.
Gramma always held the Christmas Eve party, but my cousins were RC, so no food or drink for them until after Mass. That gave me and my folks a head start on the buffet table.
I remember attending Midnight Mass as an adolescent. It was great because we could open up all our presents afterwards. I don’t see many RC churches that celebrate them anymore.

I think there’s a reason why the RCs have three masses on Christmas.

And somewhere in the middle of this brouhaha lies the real reason for the day.

I really need to attend a Mass sometime. I’ve always been a believer.
As for the strip, I think the Vicar meant are you travelling by bus, train, plane, rocket ship etc? Haha.

Andy would probably rather be at the Pub, except they’re probably all closed at midnight.
