    Are there seasons in Hartlepool? I don’t recall ever seeing snow on the ground or people bundled up for winter. As a matter of fact, does it even RAIN there??

    Cash or cache, or maybe a cache of cash, it still works. And with a clear note of cachet too!

    Our Andy wouldn’t know what a ‘cache’ was.

    By the way – l thought Chalkie wasn’t back till tomorrow?

    See yesterday’s strip.

    CLASSIC ANDY CAPP Dept.

    This single panel cartoon dates back to the late fifties.

    //////

    Andy is giving Chalkie a piece of his mind as they walk into a bar.

    “You were in a disgustin’ state last night, Chalkie! You dropped me twice on the way home!”

    TIME MAGAZINE.

    In 1963, when ‘Andy Capp’ went into syndication, Time Magazine described the drunken layabout as 5-ft 4-in and aged 46.

    We should see Sid Scrivens. More entertaining than Andy drinking alone.

    That’ll do it, Andy. Don’t ever call the judge names.

    As for snow in this strip, I don’t recall many (if any) classic episodes with it, but in more recent years there were a few with kids making snowmen to mock Andy.

    Do the judges in Britain still wear those pompous wigs?

    Insulting a judge probably won’t get you a fair trial.

    @Snsurone76.

    There’s a classic strip with Flo asking Andy to pop round to Ena’s on his way to the pub with her brolly and handbag. She left them behind last time she paid a visit.

    It’s raining and a copper shout’s, “Hey you!” Andy asks what he’s done and the copper says, “Nothing. I just wanted to hear yer speak.”
