Oh, wow, I hate to see Janis crying over this, but she deserves to, and I think Arlo’s idea is positively inspired.

I can see the note they leave Gene and ML now: “Sorry we’re gonna miss your wedding, kids, but we decided to elope! Love and best wishes to you both!”

Since me and the husband have a long distance thing (for 13 years) we have a honeymoon at least once a month. Its nice.

didnt realize this was a wind down—but while it seems to be a disappoint that the wedding was planned w/o her, Janis [and Arlo] have been reconfiguring their lives for a couple of years, Gene’s been away. and now that whole new chapter of their own lives- a daughter, a grand-daughter and more to come and a boat. their cup is overflowing -should everyone be so lucky.

It would really suck if they missed the wedding even if Janis was denied input into the arrangements. It’s the sort of thing that haunts a relationship for the rest of time.

Hats off, JJ, for graceful artistry. Love the way you got us here. The last frame from yesterday was so beautiful. I could feel the whole scene!

I saw an interview with JJ, within the past year, in which he said he would like to do A&J for another 10 years. So….. I don’t think he is wrapping up the strip – just making a change… like life…

Your right Chip. even when kids make choices that aren’t the best, you still love them and don’t want to hurt them. That’s what love is about.

About Janis’ input to the wedding. My son got married a number of years ago and my oldest daughter this past June. Parents of the groom have little say in the wedding, and pretty much just volunteer to help pay bills – liquid refreshment at the reception, a rehearsal dinner being the most obvious – possibly other things depending on the ability of the bride and groom, and brides parents. Now if A&J had a daughter!!!!!! Welllllllllllllllll, let me tell you……….However, this is one of the sweetest, most heartfelt sequences I’ve ever read. Good for both of them and good for JJ for his continued understanding of marriage and life.

I’m confused. Has the author said that the strip is ending? I hope not!

Should have named it the Busted Flush and then the mystery would go on for the rest of their lives. (Missing the McGee.)

What everyone else and maybe Janis is missing, Janis looks like she will have a good grandmother/step-granddaughter relationship. They seem to hit it off right away..So she maybe sad now, but look at the happy times and scary times she will be spending with the little one.The daughter she never had..Finally, to the one who keeps saying this is the end, stop it.It’s only bringing others down. It’s not the end, just a new chapter.
