Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for September 18, 2012
September 17, 2012
September 19, 2012
Transcript:
Gene: Got those flowers, Shrimp?
Meg: Right here!
Meg: I'm the flower girl!!
Janis: Oh! They're beautiful!
Meg: I know.
Arlo: "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown."
The people/company that does the color for GoComics never change the base color on the strip. If the object is solid black to begin with, that’s what they work with. Base colors on King Features strips do change, so that we don’t have to see black hearts for instance.
I think JJ is getting everything in order to retire. I personally will miss this strip, one I have identified with since the beginning. Congrats to JJ, his retirement is well deserved. Sail on JJ if I’m not pre-mature. Thanks for getting everything in order first.
I’ve enjoyed Arlo & Janis since the script stated. JJ was the Auburn Plainsman Sports Editor and Rheta Grimsley Johnson was the editor. I have identified with his place in life and purchased his book. Family lives and has worked in the Lanett mill. My son was married this June. About the same age as Gene. I believe JJ will continue to share about OUR l ives as we move along.

she’s afraid she’ll drop them or crush them…she’s really focused on keeping Mom’s flowers pretty. (foreshadow, foreshadow)

A person with great responsibilities, such as a king, is constantly worried

Is it me, or does Meg’s hair change color frequently?
BradyB66 about 12 years ago
And is Arlo just a bit casual for the day?
MontanaPhil50 about 12 years ago
JJ has remarked that he has no control over the colorists at the syndicate…that may be why Meg’s hair isn’t blond or brown as it was
belcherman about 12 years ago
Arlo is wearing his “good” blue pants and red shirt for the occasion.

StoicLion said “Further, I’m with you on Arlo’s casual style. Janis bought a dress, couldn’t Arlo get a sports coat?”
Sheesh. It’s ‘dressy casual’, not ‘casual dressy’! Am I the only guy around here whose wife has taught him well? A sportscoat would be overdressing.rolyf about 12 years ago
Interesting how the guys feel the ceremony is disjointed and drawn out and the women are loving it. Just like real life.
Silverbear07 about 12 years ago
It is “dress” casual! LOL
