Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for September 18, 2012
September 17, 2012
September 19, 2012
Transcript:
Gene: Got those flowers, Shrimp?
Meg: Right here!
Meg: I'm the flower girl!!
Janis: Oh! They're beautiful!
Meg: I know.
Arlo: "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown."
StoicLion said āFurther, Iām with you on Arloās casual style. Janis bought a dress, couldnāt Arlo get a sports coat?ā
Sheesh. Itās ādressy casualā, not ācasual dressyā! Am I the only guy around here whose wife has taught him well? A sportscoat would be overdressing.
The people/company that does the color for GoComics never change the base color on the strip. If the object is solid black to begin with, thatās what they work with. Base colors on King Features strips do change, so that we donāt have to see black hearts for instance.
I think JJ is getting everything in order to retire. I personally will miss this strip, one I have identified with since the beginning. Congrats to JJ, his retirement is well deserved. Sail on JJ if Iām not pre-mature. Thanks for getting everything in order first.
Iāve enjoyed Arlo & Janis since the script stated. JJ was the Auburn Plainsman Sports Editor and Rheta Grimsley Johnson was the editor. I have identified with his place in life and purchased his book. Family lives and has worked in the Lanett mill. My son was married this June. About the same age as Gene. I believe JJ will continue to share about OUR l ives as we move along.

And is Arlo just a bit casual for the day?

JJ has remarked that he has no control over the colorists at the syndicateā¦that may be why Megās hair isnāt blond or brown as it was

Interesting how the guys feel the ceremony is disjointed and drawn out and the women are loving it. Just like real life.
