Looks like someone might not be sold on the bistro idea.

Meg is her mother’s daughter.

Kids: the boat anchors of parents everywhere. Whatever happened to the good old Tom Sawyer days when they would just disappear for weeks at a time, no one cared, and they pretty much raised themselves.

I have to agree with Meg; it is tough putting up with the attitude of strangers when they think they are family. I am sure Meg will appreciate her independence from parental guidance. The only time my parents objected was when they were expected to do parental things like share a family vacation, supply clothes that they would not be wearing themselves or going to Parent/Teacher conferences.

personally i think all little kids are snotty and spoiled these days and can’t imagine why people keep on having them. (i know, i know, they’re cute as babies… but then they learn to talk and you’re still stuck with them)

Children are never happy. I used to work all the time, lots of overtime – the kids liked having extra things but missed having me at home. Now, I stopped looking for meaningless jobs with no room for advancement and went back to school – they want things I can’t afford.

To quote Bender from Futurama, “What’s with you kids? Every other day it’s ‘food, food, food.’”

Wow, comments are really cynical today. Can anyone breakdown panel two. The dialogue seems disconnected to me.

Somebody had to say it, and Meg was the only choice.

Rearing our children was the most enjoyable experience of my life. I spoiled the older, not so badly with the younger. They did not always do as we said, or as we wished, but remembering that they were different people helped. They have grown into solid citizens who vote “conservative.”

I feel so sad for Meg. MaryLou and Gene really need to make their plans for their future with a greater emphasis on Meg’s needs as well. The bistro idea to me seems half-baked… much like most souffles.

If this were a ’60s TV show, Meg would be played by Dawn Lyn of My Three Sons. And that is not a good thing.

@PipeTobacco – well put. I thought Peter’s quip was funny and basically harmless. It was the other fellow who brought politics into it. Now let’s all move on.

Judging by the “hairdo”, I’m guessing Meg’s real father is Prince Valiant.

Well there is a solution. They open a french bakery instead of a bistro and are open 6am t0 2 pm only. We did this when our kids were little. The only time it interfered with their lives at all was on school days off when I couldn’t get coverage and they came into the coffee shop for the day. Since it was seldom, they loved it. They would play waitress with the regulars, color, do workbooks and such at the counter. It’s not all or nothing. It’s just about thinking one’s way out of a box.

Meg should run for President.
