It sounds nice/romantic, but in my experience, she usually takes it as a guilt trip.

LOL, had about the same conversation with my hubby last night, we also agreed that it’s better to lie awake together than sleep alone…

And yet, what quality of life will they have if even one of them (let’s just guess Janis) starts spiraling down from sleep deprivation? I’ve been there. It was for vastly different reasons – high needs child all night AND all day, but still someone I’d die for. And yet, I remember not living, just existing. And getting very, ummm, let’s say “cranky”. ;-)So, IF Janis is getting as desperate for sleep as I’d read into the last panel, it may be her LOVE for Arlo that would benefit from separate bedrooms. Or at least, a comfy secondary bed that she could crawl into, when she needs it most. They can still snuggle (and more) any night, and she’ll be able to be a better partner during the day. And, haven’t I been reading observations about how cranky she’s been seeming to become? Really, folks, very loving partners can and do often benefit from separate bed options for sleep.

And, what the dickens happened to my ability to space?? Even my spaces after some end of sentences seem to dissappear. Seriously, GoComics??? Just how does that help protect from spammers?!?Harumph!

Can’t decide if this week’s arc is about: 1) The changes in sleep patterns while ageing; 2) Arlo’s passive-aggressive side leaking out re connubial activities (Janice’s interpretation, apparently), or; 3) both, neither, other.

My wife snores quite loudly and with an irregular pattern. When we married, the first few weeks were chaotic in terms of me being unable to sleep if I did not fall asleep before her.

    .

Fortunately, ear plugs saved the day. Way back then, they were not “graded”, but what I use now are the 32dB strength varieties. I buy them by the gross (literally 144 to a container). A significant help for sleeping harmony.

@keep on keepin’ on We both have cpap, though I am better at wearing it than he is. When we both wear them we sleep like babies, it’s lovely. When he doesn’t wear his he thrashes around and makes a lot of noise. I do have a secondary bed in the guest room but don’t do it too often.
