Reminds me of a Software Installation I was doing for my job many years ago. The very slow-moving Completion Bar got up to 99%… and hung. (I swear I heard chuckling… ☺)
My dog hasn’t reached this stage yet, but if you have a very old dog you will find out that you can get up and get outside and walk your dog possibly without really waking up. Beagle #2 had to go out every hour all night during her last year. She could no longer get on the bed to sleep with me and she had too much arthritis for me to pick her up, so I made her a nice bed in the corner. When I would hear her moving around, I would get up. She would give me a look of, “Hey, I am not enjoying this either, but I can’t help it!” No fence here, so I had to go too. She was very quick as she wanted to get back to sleep too.
I can relate to this as I have a new job which requires me to actually BE there to and ready to work at some horrible hour like 8AM or something….after being retired for so many years it ain’t easy.
the lovely pain pills i’m taking now for the lingering pain of shingles make it somewhat easier for me to oversleep, but i’m still up at 4:30 at the latest, almost bright-eyed. i have very little understanding of folks who can lay abed…
Gotta get up and move around, Aunty. Even when I feel like I’ve gotten a good night’s sleep, I don’t just spring out of bed fully energized. Takes a few minutes of wakefulness to feel like myself (and that’s before I even get to coffee, juice and breakfast).

Oh, I like that one! That’s me. Our cats approve of failing, so long as they get to stay with us.
