Baldo by Hector D. Cantú and Carlos Castellanos for February 06, 2011
Transcript:
Baldo: Gracie, how can you spend so much time staring at a blank canvas? Gracie: That's the difference between you and me, Baldo. Gracie: When you look at this all you see is a blank canvas. Gracie: But I look at it with an artist's eye. Gracie: I see the possibilities... I see beauty not yet created... places not yet gone! You see nothing... I see everything! Gracie: That is why I stare. Baldo: Whatever... Gracie's Thought: That and after I bought the canvas, I didn't have money left for paint and brushes.

Um … did somebody forget a color? Was it on purpose? Is a point being made? I do NOT understand …

Everything but black.
JustinsComics about 14 years ago
It’s black history month. Life without, I guess.
Coyoty Premium Member about 14 years ago
It apparently has something to do with watercolors.
Jaedabee about 14 years ago
Yep, seems to me it’s everything but black, and intentional.

It’s fine on the Spanish one.

Interesting if you couple this with today’s Calv.1n and Hobbes re-run…

You can see the way it should look at this site…

I thought she was drawing a blank….
TOMOTH about 14 years ago
Perhaps it’s a do-it-yourself cartoon: fill it in and send it to the artists.

Well she didn’t have enough money for the paint and brushes! :-)

Looks like someone left out the black layer.

I got up and cleaned my glasses; now I find out it’s not just me.
p.s. On a related subject, check out today’s Calvin & Hobbes.

Trapper, speaking for myself (another coyote, but not Coyoty), there are a couple of strips I read here even though they’re in my daily paper. I read them here for the comments.

The cartoonist gave them BAD bubbles.
Yukoneric about 14 years ago
You’ll have to read the Spanish version!

Web site is broke, or somebody loaded wrong file. Washington post site, which actually points back to same server in the sky, had the unhosed file.
tomcruz33 about 14 years ago
Another reason to come here for strips over your local paper is that many of these are in color every day, not just on Sunday! The color on Gocomics is usually better than newsprint as newsprint colors are not always lined up properly. And of course there are the comments!

Boy, and I thought it was an impressive goof-up the other day when “The Grizzwells” left out one dialog balloon.
YatInExile about 14 years ago
The best goofs I’ve seen are the two days when the Spanish Calvin & Hobbes was actually Portuguese and the Stone Soup that was in Spanish.
keabu1 about 14 years ago
in response to some of the earlier posts, there is black in the cartoon with Baldo’s hair
pschearer Premium Member about 14 years ago
No, Baldo’s hair is dark blue. Compare to the darker parts of his pants.
(Of course, if the website fixes this on Monday, anyone reading these comments afterwards will wonder Wednesday-Thursday-Friday we’re talking about.)

All the black and white got used up in Calvin and Hobbs today.

Any time I don’t “get it” from the e-mail I come here for the comments and usually value added laughs — you all are great!

TrapperJohn, the newspaper doesn’t laugh at my jokes.

Poetic yet practical, Gracie’s a winner
