Every Mexican family I know … and I know many … makes tamales for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

What you eat is not as important as who you’re eating with.

Not Hispanic here, but my mom used to have fresh beef liver for Thanksgiving. They raised turkeys and were THANKFUL not to have to eat it on that day! :o)

Turkey in Mexico is very expensive. Plus, no T-giving.

Reminds me of the joke about the four-legged chickens.“What do they taste like?”“Don’t know. Have never been able to catch one.”

First, Bermúdez is not necessarily tía Carmen’s last name, it’s her nephew Sergio’s; second,Thanksgiving day doesn’t mean beans for Mexicans, there were no Pilgrims or Plymouth Rock there; third, Mexicans hardly eat pork.

I’m not “Mexican” or even Hispanic, but it is a New Mexican tradition to share tamales and posole for holiday feasts. I already have a pot of posole cooking for Thanksgiving.
