Nora: What are you doing, Tia Carmen: Tia Carmen: I'm hanging up wet laundry. Tia Carmen: You put it on the line like this... Tia Carmen: Then the rays of the sun dry it! Nora: Wow! Nora: What'll they think of next?
A remarkably “Green” concept that’s good for the environment and the pocketbook. Too bad so many home-owners associations (HOA’s) are more concerned with the appreance of their neighbors back yards than economic concerns, environmental impact issues, and oh yeah personal rights.
I remember a Reader’s Digest test maybe 10 years ago. It would show a picture, and depending on what you called it, it gave you your age. For instance, is it :a) Iceboxb)Refrigeratorc)Fridge
It was a pretty accurate test, it got everyone I knew within a couple of years.
This comic made me realize how many of my childhood memories involve laundry: my mother kneeling on the floor doing laundry in a galvanized steel tub, later in a bathtub, later still with a wringer washing machine. Then hanging the clothes on a cotton-rope clothesline held up in the middle by a clothesline pole with wooden clothespins and a hanging bag to hold them. But that was after the clothesline out the back window of a second-floor apartment, the line running back and forth on a pulley attached to the opposite building. BTW, to give you some idea of how far back this all is, my father just died four days short of 100.

Kids these days wouldn’t even know what a rotary dial telephone is (I remember finding a YouTube like that).

Depending where you live and hang up your laundry – the smell of fresh air laundry is not all it pretends to be.
