When I was a teacher, I had a student who had his right foot cut off by his parents’ lawnmower.
That’s exactly why you should take it as a compliment that he thinks you’re mature enough to handle it safely.
Best excuse from my son was that the mower’s gas tank was empty. A 5 gallon can of fuel was next to the mower. He’s still a pain just below his belt.
If he has to ask if he mowed it then either he did mow or it didn’t need mowing
