I love the different expression of each character. Tia Carmen is smiling. Baldo has that slight grimace, like he’s a little bit perturbed that he didn’t think of himself. The waitress is trying to be professional, but you can tell she doesn’t quite know what to say. Sergio’s eyes are wide open in surprise. Gracie is saying it in complete innocence.

I’m sure the chef can figure it out. It’s world famous after all!

Enough with the arroz con pollo!

I have a cousin that married a white guy. My cousin was born in Rincón, Puerto Rico, but was reared in Newark, NJ. Her first born went with my aunt, his grandmother for 2 months during the summer when he 5 years old to Rincón. Once he was back with his parents, they went to a restaurant and when the waiter asked for the order, my cousin’s son said, “Arroz con habichuelas.”

It speaks well for Tia Carmen’s cooking.

One of my favorite Spanish dishes is arroz con pollo.

How do you say it? Una Feliz Tia?

Gracie is trying to get Tia Carmen a job at the restaurant. Then she can bring any leftover arroz con pollo home!
