Sigh… we had to send Stan home.Things were starting to get just a little too clear….We kinda liked to keep Stan’s clarity contained to no more than about 4 martinis….

then we call him a cab.If we don’t, he starts to get a pretty clear idea that he can do things that… well, frankly, he can’t.

NOT allowing a repeat of the chandelier incident…..

or inviting another disastrous episode of “Challenge the Biggest Guy in the Bar to a Fist Fight.”

Meanwhile, martinis themselves are a bit of a contentious issue right now at the Tiki Bar.

You all know that this bar is owned by Sheriff MonkeyBlues (however he spells it today)…. who is also the elected Sheriff of Ballard County, and not only my boss, but, I think I may say, a very good friend of mine.

The Banana Daiquiri is our signature drink.Made behind the bar, when it’s slow, and in the giant “grinder” out back when we’re busy…they’re very popular.

So the Monkey, liking, as monkeys do, to stay busy and creative, has invented a new drink….the Banana Martini.

It’s… well… it’s a martini, you see…with gin, and a sweeter Vermouth than the classic…plus a dash of banana liqueur…. and instead of an olive, a lengthwise section of a sugar-roasted banana.

Now, to most humans, that sounds…. well….

you decide how that sounds…but you know, it’s his bar….

But Fenton, our classically trained night bartender, and also my friend, has a problem.He flat out, so far, refuses to make it.

Now Fenton is a practical dog, with many years behind the bar. At first he didn’t like the idea of banana daks, either, but he got over it…I tell him he’ll get over this too. After all, if you ask for some silly drink like a “Sex on the Beach” or a “Tattooed Love Goddess” he’ll cringe…but he’ll mix it for you.And he knows who signs his paychecks.

So I’m asking you all to come to the bar and order it…special introductory price, only $1.37 through March 16th.

If we get enough orders I’m sure Fenton will agree to make them… or I will, or the little monkeys, or the Fireman on Thursdays.

Then you can (kindly please) let us know what you think.Maybe you’ll love it…..

I gave up smoking at 12, swearing at 14, and I didn’t drink any alcohol at all at any age! And I find shame in others whodo.

SusanShineAs you and most of the folks who hang out frequent the Tiki know, I divide my time between Ballard, and The Banana Capital of the World, in Ecuador. ‘Tis I that provides the tons of fresh picked bananas for the Tiki’s signature drinks.I confess, that in a moment of drunken…ah.. intoxi.. …er distraction, I gave Munky the directions on how to roast ganero maduras ( a type of bananas ) BUT I DID NOT GIVE HIM THAT BANANA MARTINI RECIPE !!!!

I never drink Mother’s Ruin ( Gin ) but have been known to enjoy a good dirty vodka martini or one of the excellent classic martinis concocted by the skilled hands paws of Fenton

Perfection should not be tampered with. Leave the martini alone ! Don’t mess with success ! I am on Fenton’s side of this argument.

Even BATPUG the Sherif"s most valued deputy agrees with us.

What kind of fool do all of you take me for?! I gave up smokingbecause of a lack of interest. I stop swearing because I was bringing shame to my family, so as new years’ resolution in 1974, I swore off swearing (with the exception of “Fart” and “Jackass”). Now whoever that called me a “lair” should think (an impossibility) twice before posting! And for one who said “a glass of wine just might make you nicer”, THINK AGAIN!! Never will I partake in any type of poison that almost ruin most of the Lyons Family and my family’s in-laws!!
