Well placed shoes should be placed on the feet, placing them on the ears is just silly.

Remember, this is Ballard Street. He may know his shoes, but he doesn’t have a lick of business sense.

Damn, I’m old.

This is a fancy portrait of Dan in his Blue Period.

Those shoes don’t look like they have the heelroom for Ballard Street feet.

Seeing only the top of my screen – first thought “Fan Dancing Show”.

Fancy Dan is the store’s sole proprietor.

Those shoes belong in a place where the sun don’t shine – if you know what I mean.

The he might be known as fancy-pants Dan.

Fancy Dan was always light on his feet…if you know what I mean.

I once saw the ‘Bruno Magli’ shoes made famous in the O.J.Simpson trial.

You put the right foot in, you take the right foot out. That’s what it’s all about.

Fancy Dan knows his clientele. Those shoes will be sold out and on back-order within a week.

I’ve heard of Wingtips, but Wingankles?

Most people get the point of a well placed boot.

Fancy Dan’s occupies one of the oldest storefronts in town…

Built in 1893 to house Mrs. Baker the Dressmaker’s “Bonnets to Ballgowns”…

it was completely remodeled in 1932, and given those beautiful Art Deco blue glass windows, to protect the fancy chocolates and cakes on display at “Sweets to the Sweet”….

Now the blue glass not only protects the fabulous colors of the leathers, silks, and other materials in Dan’s custom designed fancy shoes…. (for men and ladies…)

but he has discovered that it’s a bit of built-in marketing genius, in itself.

Standing outside, and wondering whether a certain pair will match your maroon plaid suit or your purple polka dot silk dress…

You can’t possibly tell….

Not until you step inside, where you are surrounded by the allure of Moroccan leather, custom arch supports, hand stitching, and sooo many frills…

plus soft lighting, and Fancy Dan’s soothing voice.

You can’t leave without, if not shoes, some lavender cashmere socks, or perhaps just green plaid shoelaces.

No word yet, BTW, from the Sheriff…. the real Sheriff…

Oh Monkey! Come home!

That look on Fancy Dan’s face betrays his slingshot back in the store room.

Oh poor Fancy Dan, how you still dream of being the Manolo Blahnik of East Nowhere’s Main St shopping centre. Those cufflinks will get you there eventually, have faith.

Just don’t…step on his blue suede shoes.
