I’m waiting for the tray to dump that on his head. He missed the last three Club Work Parties. There are certain aspects of pulleys he doesn’t understand.
It seems that his end to the rope should be longer. With what appears to be 3 support ropes (Ideal Mechanical Advantage of 3), he would have to have his end move 3 feet just to move the tray 1 foot.
When Chad was but a lad he played with Tinker Toys and Erector Sets. In his teens me became aware of block and tackle, pulleys and gears. Now as a retired gentleman he puts all that knowledge to work for himself making life so much easier and in a relaxed setting at home. Ahhh, retirement.

I am sure he dreams that, one day, he will have his own dumb waiter.

Grab that ‘wich, Chad, especially if it’s brain food.

Now if he could only invent a block and pulley that could assemble a sandwich. He would be the hero of the club.

I a little surprised that the periodical isn’t called the Block and Tackle Monthly (since that is what a system of pulleys is called).

I thinking that the end of the rope is on his lap should be tied down.
It seems that the food tray should just drop as it is set up right now.

Looks like a “Heath Robinson” contraption. He was known as the English “Rube Goldberg”, but more fanciful.

It reminds me of something I saw in a French movie, “Alexandre le Bienheureux”.

What a blockhead.

Personally, when it comes to sandwiches, I’d prefer a turbo-lift, food replicator, or even a transporter.

Chad has a one-track, two-pulley mind.
