Almost nobody knows what modern country music sounds like, as it does not get played on the radio! What you hear on “country” radio is, indeed, the absolute worst of Top-40 pop.

Saw a review of a Merle Haggard compliation disc that said “Merle’s the real thing; this isn’t some Twinkie-fed mullet-boy singing about his truck”.

He followed the pair to Pawtucket

The man and the girl and the bucket

He said to the man,

“You’re welcome to Nan”

But as for the bucket, Pawtucket

They caught up with him in Manhasset

With the bucket he kept as an asset

Then Nan and her man

Took the bucket and ran

Hey, Meyer, got any suggestions that might help me specifically with Donald Trump, Mike Pence, Jeff Sessions, Rex Tillerson, Steve Mnuchin, Ryan Zinke … etc. etc. … ?

New country = Old rock

Its the “twangy” manner of playing and singing that drives me bonkers about most country music. I like Willie Nelson because usually he avoids the “twang”. But, he is the only Country singer I know of that I can tolerate.

To me, not liking poetry is akin to not liking language.
