    And speaking of additional information:

    A-PTERYX is from the Greek for “without wing”. (Same root as ptero-dactyl (wing finger) and helico-pter (helical wing).

    I recently read that the vermiform appendix (from Latin for “worm-shaped on-hanger”) DOES have a purpose! It preserves a sample of intestinal bacteria from diarrhea so the healthy gut can be restored after a bout of disease or poisoning.
