When I was growing up, family all lived close enough to get together on a weekly basis. Now we are so spread out, we need the technology so we can remember who they are!
The board was the table the food was served on, so “room and board” means room and meals. And a sideboard is a low cupboard at the side of a table, where food was often kept during a meal.
Sometimes I stay at a little resort in southern Utah. A room, bring your own food, no TV or internet, hardly any cellular service. BUT never bored… Plenty of lakes and trout streams. It’s also important to bring the right people too.
Um, Wiley, the phrase should have been “Room and Board”. There’s really no “joke” if the phrase is given as “Room and Bored”.Which brings up the question – What if the board is bored? :-)
When I’m bored, I have my portable DVD player and great movies on DVD. But that’s only early in the morning and late at night. The rest of the time is not spent in the room.
“And they had wifi in the stone age?”.No, they didn’t.That’s why they were bored every time cavemen went to a hotel. Were it not for karaoke, they couldn’t have survived..

If Wi-Fi is what it takes to entertain you, then you deserve to be bored.

You don’t need fancy technology to be entertained. You can read a book for example.

I like hotel wifi, its fun to see what other people have unsecured on their electronic devices that they are sharing with all the other guests.
