Whenever the South gets snow or ice that they’re not used to, you see the video of cars sliding all over the road. But there’s always one car that moves along slow and steady. I like to think that’s the former Buffalonian.
As much as I hate, hate, HATE driving in snow, ice is far worse. I’ve slid off the road a couple times in ice over my many years of driving. Only one time did I need to be towed out. The other times, I was able to get myself out using traction mats.
I feel rather badly about some of the above hardships of those going to school in winter. On a snowy day, I was brought to school in the limousine with a thermos of hot cocoa..

And that’s often a good thing, right?
.
I am reminded of a time in the Sixties when doctors in California decided to protest the rising malpractice insurance rates by doing no elective surgeries.
.
The hospital death rate went way down.
(Even if there’s only a one in 50 chance of dying during elective surgery, if you do 50 of them, you are gonna kill somebody who wouldn’t have died on average.)

Definitely age related. The kids love it, and Hubby and I are both retired so we don’t care.

Surprised Hallmark hasn’t come out with a greeting card for such “holidays.”

Vancouver drivers know what to do in snow. First sight of a snowflake, abandon the car (preferably in the middle of an intersection) and walk home.
