We usually read the same books, but not simultaneous, which sometimes can be difficult when the book is so riveting that we want to discuss it as soon as we read it or even during reading it and we have to wait until the other has read it.
I’m retired now and most of my prior reading was clinical/ scientific books and articles that I studied(slow reading). Started reading novels now (I study them like the clinical stuff) takes me a month to get thru a 400 page novel. My wife, an English lit. major goes thru 10 to 15 books a week.

It is unreasonable to expect those you love to enjoy what you enjoy and at the same level. She knew going in he was resistant to enjoying reading.
