A parent teaching a kid to pick up after themselves is not “control”, it’s a parent doing their job. The kid has plenty of time to be a slob when they grow up.
Mark Twain said he ran away from home when he was 16 because his father was the most ignorant man he knew. When he returned home at 21, it was surprising how much his father had learned. :)
