When I was in grade school we had a long enough lunch period to go out to the playground and run around plus we had a recess plus gym class a couple-few times a week.

Now they don’t give the kids a break and when they get restless they call it ADHD and drug them.

Why is Mr. Galvin’s nose so red? Some science in there?

I wish Mr. Peirce declared the end of the Big Nate strips if new 2018 Big Nate strips don’t resume soon!

When I began teaching in 1968, this could have actually happened. We could bring treats to school, and kids brought cakes on their birthdays. You could declare a recess when the kids either were getting too hyper to be effective, or as a reward for getting work done early. We didn’t drug wiggly kids, we let them go run it off. Ten minutes to get it out of their systems and they were ready to concentrate on the lessons again. When I retired in 2000, no one could feed the kids anything, except the school nurse drugging them on a regular basis, because they were afraid of allergies or intentional poisoning, and we had to schedule recess as part of our daily schedule, turned into the office at the beginning of the year.

You know it’s bad when normally straight-laced Francis is just as buggy as the other kids.

Will reruns go on forever? Beacause almost all strips this year are reruns.

Is this one new? I don’t remember it in any of my Big Nate books, I think i have all of them.

Hyperactivity can be caused by consuming large amounts of sugar, but consuming large amounts of sugar does not always cause hyperactivity. Even with the consumption of large amounts of sugar, students should still be able to restrain themselves. In Nate’s class, there is a disproportionate amount of hyperactive kids (or as far as we can see, all the kids are hyperactive), which should not happen. Even Francis and Gina can not seem to be able to contain themselves.
