Fanally got back and caught up on the party. Bowling? Oh my! And with Bookers? My, oh my! What did I miss? Ah well. The Canadian Women’s Bobsledders got gold and silver. But apparently they passed a couple of guys from the PNW swinging a bookers bottle and getting in the way of the sleighs. Wonder who that could have been? JFri, Cleo, any ideas?

I remember watching USA play Canada in women’s hockey a number of years ago. The game was on live in the wee early hours. The station I was watching it on was CBC and the game was great. I was really enthralled, but I had forgotten that at that time we only got CBC for half the day, the other half it became CSpan. Suddenly the game was cut off and it switched to politics. Man was I mifffed. By the way, I much prefer how Canadians cover the Olympics then how the Americans do. Watching US coverrage is like a big Hallmark Card, with one sappy strory after another and they save all the good events for prime time. If I watch Canadian coverage I can watch events as they occur.

Have a good one Doctor Toon

Cleo, It’s all about the big advertizing buck. If they can’t market it, you don’t get to see it.

By the way, the CBC is just one big Public television network that the taxpayers pay for.

Cleo, when I was living in Montreal, I willingly supported 2 PBS stations south of the border through donations (one for clasic movies and the other for British comedies like Red Dwarf and Keeping Up Appearances) and unwillingly supported the CBC with my tax dollars for substandard Canadian content.

I used to really appreciate PBS when we still had TV.

We listened to NPR for hours each day. Now my wife listens to mostly podcasts and I have gotten into having nothing on at all.

Ahh, cleo, it might be harder to corrupt monks than you think. We are used to temptation, and just because we are monks by no means keeps us from being sinners. However, we should be more expert at resisting temptation and corruption. Ahh–it is smooth, isn’t it?

It is smooth. It is interesting how the palate develops. When I first tried an Islay malt I wondered how anyone could stand it. Then as the years go by and age sets in, your taste buds change and switch away from sweet as being the only interesting taste. Flavors become more complex and you appreciate the flavors of more intense combinations. Plus, I believe a person’s taste buds diminish as well as become more refined with age. You lose the intensities of flavor, but also appreciate nuances you missed when young.

Dry Are you referring to For Better & For Worse?. I haven’t followed that strip in years, but I saw you made a reference to Joe there.

Cleo Secrets, you owe me man, for hiding all those bills for you in my secret hiding place! The gmen could have hauled me away if they had found them! :-D Of course, if they were cute, the search may have been fun!

Dry, even a little detective work is so easy a caveman can do it.

With that I shall call it a night. See you on the flip side.

Actually, I meant “a few cases when we have a glass or two of wine with meals” Sheesh! Keep your hats on!

And, as for alcoholic priests, they can try to get permission to use unfermented wine (must), or else, once sober, they may be able to handle a sip of the consecrated wine. It all depends on the addiction–conditions under which they were tempted to indulge in excess, and so on.

Looks like I’ve missed a lot of fun, but what can I do? I am running to keep ahead of the avalanche of papers heading my way.

And so- I am glad you had a Happy Birthday Tabby.

Eventually, I will have time to stop long enough to chat.

    Peace and Love.
