Come on. Nixon was a good President. He ended the Vietnam War and created the EPA. His crime was trying to cover up something he had nothing to do with. It was a “complicated” time in our history, rampant violence, protests, home-grown terrorist blowing up buildings, Patti Hearst robbing banks, Charles Manson leading a cult of murderers. But there was also the Moon landing, Coke commercials and great music. Nixon was not a saint, he was deeply embedded in the Washington swamp (so to speak), but he was not really a criminal, at least for what the whole Watergate stuff was about. By resigning he did the right thing at the right time to preserve our great nation.
Every president has his fans. 40 years from now, some character in a cartoon will say, “I miss Trump.” (And another will ask, “You mean at the dart game last night?”)
He was complicated. Yes, he engaged in illegal activities while in office, deliberately and underhandedly derailed the Paris peace talks prolonging the Viet Nam war causing more deaths of young american soldiers. Not to mention his general paranoia and nastiness. Personally I wish he had not been pardoned. But he also returned sacred lands back to the Taos natives. The land was taken away by Teddy Roosevelt. The Taos natives petitioned the US govt for decades. My jaw dropped when I learned of this. The Taos natives honor him. It is complicated when someone in power does a lot of nasty things, but manages to do one or two great things that will endear him to those he helped for many generations. The land could have been returned much sooner by any prior president. But there it is.
Miss Nixon?I never thought I’d say this, but some days, yeah. I mean he was the worst Pres in history – until Ronnie Raygun. Who was the worst Pres in history – until the Shrub. Who we really thought (and hoped) would hold the “worst Pres” crown for a good long time – hopes that were thoroughly dashed by the Orange Blivet.

The man kept Nelson Rockefeller out of the oval office. He’s a saint to me.

Hum, I was in my early teens then, Nixon was not as bad as the “Media” would make you believe. Strange how one dumb act can taint you forever. ;-)

Yes, it’s a shame Cynthia lost her bid for governor.

Nixon was more honest than Barry, Hillary, and Donald put together. Really not saying much.

Compared to what we have now, I’d much prefer The Trickster.

I’d rather have Elizabeth Warren or Barnard Sanders for president right now.
