I would take my cats for walks in the redwoods. It definitely turned into a hike when one of them decided to climb to the top of four levels of fallen redwood log bridges over a river. I followed him and we persuaded the other cat to join us What a view!

Climbed Mt. Washington NH 9 times as a youngster in the 40s. Also other mountains in Maine. Nothing as scary as the narrow path in this illustration.
