It’s 1984, folks! Ring any bells (hint: George Orwell)?Opus, such as he was then, has a right to be, at the very least, embarrassed. But wait until his future purchases!
Thankfully I don’t eat plums so I don’t need them pitted. Neither do I need my yogurt squirted so I’ll just use my $39.98 for other more useful things.
Those of you who seem to be upset that older strips are running should realize that Breathed’s observations are as relevant today as when the strip first ran.Sisyphos, I doubt that many readers have any idea what your reference to 1984 meant. Sometimes it seems as if society is rushing headlong into that chilling future of Orwell, Huxley, and Bradbury amongst others. I suppose those authors are not much read anymore. They caused one to THINK.
@bwalk7217: It serves both as a nostalgia for those of us who followed the strip in the ’80s and also some character background for those who are new.
Ronco commercials were always twice the volume of regular commercials, and Opus was impressionable enough to follow any instruction the TV gave him loudly enough. So this also serves as context as to why Trump is currently leading the polls…

Why is the strip called Bloom County 2015 when we are seeing strips from 1984?
