The hog has pooped, and now we have to consider how to clean up after it, and that takes some thought, not instant solutions to the problem that “instant response” created.
War kills, so maybe it’s a good idea not to rush in.
It may not be relevant but we have elected a number of generals as President, and none of them has ever led us into war.
Yes Americans have died there, but that doesn’t mean that we have to let more Americans die to justify their deaths.
We should get out, but what will probably happen is that we will send some more troops, and then more and then more, all because no politican wants to be the one who “Lost A War!” We should let our men and women die just so a politican wont look bad.
War is too important to let politics decide.
Decide what winning in Afghanistan is.
Decide what winning will costs.
Decide if it is worth the costs.
Let’s start with the fact that we don’t send people over there instantly even when we make rash decisions – deployment does NOT mean kissing your wife and child and stepping onto a plane bound for Kabul. But armchair generals and chickenhawks don’t know this, so I don’t blame Gorrell for the error.
And, as others have noticed, we wouldn’t be in this mess if it weren’t for hasty, foolish, thoughtless action on the part of a weekend warrior who bravely protected Texas against the Viet Cong – when he could be bothered to show up. A thoughtful Senator won’t screw it up any more than that.
Howie, the cartoon is a blame game cartoon. I’m saying it’s not a blame issue. I’m saying that a little bit of thought is called for. We’ve been there a long time, so taking a bit more time to get it right is called for. What’s with this “he’s blaming Bush” meme?
And BTW, what would YOU say is our goal in Afghanistan, and how will we know when we’ve accomplished it?
Known several of those losses, and both Bush’s had yellow spines, which is why I cannot ever cut them any slack, unless it’s a little extra rope like Saddam’s half-brother got.
Sorry, yellow and white flag make me all the more furious about the cowards, adamant, wealthy, money-sucking cowards that got us into this mess- all of them. (Wolfie, Rummy, Rush(pr man), Feith, Perle, on and on…)
Bush is an idiot so is Chaney!!! they intended for 911 to start a war that is no cause to nothin we are fighting over there for really no reason their plan is to derail America into a depression partially of the cost of the war we have had for 6 1\2 years.. poor obama is all talk no walk!

Spot on!!!
Never let them see you sweat!
It is painful to watch the public deliberation over the ‘war of necessity’.
Our enemies are thus being encouraged to kill a bunch more of our boys and girls in uniform, in hopes of directly affecting the decision making.

Every American that dies in Iraq and Afghanistan dies for Bush’s arrogance and stupidity.
